Vintage Dress Refashion

This is another pre blogging project so unfortunately there is no before photo but imagine a full length, very large, totally non fitted dress from 1970!

I bought it on ebay for about £15 because I loved the fabric (linen I think!). I chopped it in half and made a top and skirt - NOT to be worn together in case you think I am crazy!

I re-hemmed the top part and put a shirred panel on the lower back to pull it in for a less sack like look and put an elastic waist band on the skirt - super simple! The only problem was the fabric is not in very good condition so it was disintegrating as I sewed but both the skirt and top have been washed and worn loads and they are still ok!

  1. That fabric is really pretty - but I can imagine a whole dress would be a bit of an overload! Great refashion to get good use out of it though!

Hope you have a great weekend!
