A birthday, 5 years blogging and playing with Harris Tweed

Big E was 10 last week. TEN!! How is that even possible?!

That also means that since it is 5 years since I started blogging, half of Big E's life is recorded here in some way or another. Hopefully I can keep posting here semi regularly although at the moment I don't feel like I have much to write about...

One of the things I do have to write about is some sewing . I have mentioned before that I set up a small business, Coo Creations, last year. I do alterations etc in the Edinburgh area and it is great but hemming things constantly can be soul destroying so I decided I needed a more creative part to the business. After a lot of pondering I decided to make small sewn things out of Recycled fabric and Harris Tweed.

I never throw any good fabric away and after doing various commissions for people I have ended up with a stash of tweeds, tartans and upholstery fabric that is crying out to be made into things.

I have spent the last few weeks sewing hearts, notebook covers and gadget cases and am slowly listing them in my new Etsy shop. I haven't sold anything of course but there is always time and this part of the process is keeping me entertained for now :)

A crazy amount of crafting!

As the title says there has been rather a lot of crafting going on in this neck of the woods... I have a table at a craft fair on the 9th March and am desperately trying to make stuff to (try and) sell!

I still have lots to photograph and more to make but hopefully I will have a decent amount to take so my 6ft table does not look bare :)

If you see anything you fancy you can buy online!

An exciting new venture!

Little e has had flu all week so we have been housebound. Not much fun for her but really productive for me!

I set up a facbook 'shop 'a while ago trying to sell some of my crafty things. I have sold a few things to friends and family but not to anyone I didn't feel was just being polite :) With the ever looming prospect of little e going to school in August and me being home alone I decided to bite the bullet and make a proper web site for this new venture and am planning on booking a table at our local farmers market!

The new site is called Coo Creations, feel free to go have a browse and let me know what you think!

Boy's linen trousers

Using the same method as my ladies shorts to boys shorts I made these linen trousers for Big E from a pair of my linen trousers I had shrunk! In fact they were the trousers I wore to Big E's christening!

Big E always has trouble telling the front and back of his trousers if there is no label so I made up some labels,

Not very clear but they should look like this
I love Highland cows, can you tell?!
