It's spring you say?...

Seeing as the UK appears to be skipping spring this year I decided some wool stash busting should be done. I don't have a huge yarn stash but it was exploding out of the box it was kept in so it needed shrunk a little!
 
I found this pattern which promised to use the exact amount of wool I had and be fairly quick to make.

 I wasn't entirely what I was crocheting until the very end as the picture didn't give much away but it turned out fine and I have a nice new scarf!

Now I am hoping that since I have made a new scarf spring will appear and I will nave no need to wear it for at least 8 months!

A lot of snow and a teeny tiny hat!

What a week, it started like this

Blizzard like conditions...

followed by glorious sunshine!

which was tricky, especially since my husband took my snow tyres off last week... A 7min drive to school took 1hr 30mins and lots of digging when the car got stuck.

The kids had fun though!

Day 3 when the snow was melting so perfect for snowman making!

 The week has ended with a trip up north to collect a piano and hen house from my uncle's house.

  
3 hours in the car called for some crochet so I made a teeny tiny hat for my Nephew who is due to arrive in July!

I used this pattern and it was very easy and quick. I also made a tablet (ipad like thingy not vitamins!) cosy but more on that when I get  a photo of it!

How not to start a crochet project...

I am impatient. So, when inspiration struck and I decided I was going to crochet this jumper  I had to start.

I had the perfect wool, a large hank of tweedy wool brought back from Lewis when my Mum was there for a meeting about 3 years ago. Now, I knew you were supposed to wind the hank in to balls but I was sure I would manage so skipped that step.

This is how far I got before I had to snip the wool and admit defeat, I was in an awful tangle...

Luckily I had two trusty assistants (thanks Mum and Dad) to help try and unravel my knotty mess.

 

 

I think 'we' got about half the wool untwisted, the rest is sitting waiting for something good to be on the TV so I can unknot and watch at the same time!

Resolutions

I am not really a New Years Resolution kind of person, but this year I have decided write down some things I want to achieve over the next 12 months, maybe I will do them if they are written down!!

Here goes...

Personal stuff:

 - Shout less and read Unconditional Parenting again

 - Loose weight so I am a healthy BMI (by June as we are going to a wedding and I want to fit the dress I made for another wedding in 2011 that has never properly fitted!)

 - Do some type of cardio exercise every second day
 
 - Do 5 mins of pilates and stretches every day
 
 - Read 20 books

Crafty Stuff:

 - Crochet myself this jumper (sweater),

Lady Like Sweater - Free Pattern on Lion brand yarn

 - Knit myself  this jumper, I am thinking it may be a little challenging but the wool is ordered so I have to try!!

 - Crochet / Knit both the kids a cardigan or jumper.

Hopefully they are all achievable, the shouting one will be put to the test on Tuesday when the kids go back to school and make it a mission to wind me up as much as possible before we leave the house in the morning!

Christmas Crochet

In the week before Christmas I realised I was significantly less organised with pressies for people than I thought so ended up making quite a few gifts in some rare quiet moments!

Here are the crocheted ones...

First was an earwarmer using this pattern but I forgot to take a photo of it...

Then a knotted earwarmer

using this pattern. It was so quick to do, only look about an hour.

Finally neckwarmer which I can't find the pattern for, I will add the link when I have found it again! It was great to make, you make 4 strips then plait (braid) them and crochet the ends together, a bit fiddly at the end but pretty easy!

I have the crochet bug again so am about to embark on my first jumper, wish me luck!!

The great cowl crochet and some labels

I meant to post this last week but things have been conspiring against me, mainly trying to sort things out for getting our new house this Friday and our house move which is a month tomorrow....arghhhh!

Anyway, I spent last weekend crocheting like a deamon! I made one full size cowl and 2 half sized ones, all are going to be Christmas gifts.

I figured folk would need washing instructions so made labels, three for the cowls and one for the baby hat I made.

I was pleased with them, really tempted to change the blog name to Coo Creations as Heavenly Handmades is my wedding stationery business, but I think that would confuse things!
