A New Dress for Halloween!

I got  Butterick 5917 pattern ages ago when I was looking for patters to suit my shape.

Technically it should suit me, being empire line and having detail at the bust to draw attention away from my non defined waist. I didn't bother with the bust ruffle on this version, it is really a wearable muslin.

The fabric is very old (1960's) that came from a Great Aunt's house years ago, black with white stars. I thought it would be a perfect witch's dress for Halloween.

Turns out it is not all that flattering after all (which is why it has taken 3 months to photograph and post about it), think it emphasises rather than disguises my non-waist but it will do for Halloween!

The next dress I have to post about is even worse, no wonder my desire to sew for myself has been non existent!

OWLS

I can't believe I am actually writing this post finally, my OWLS jumper, that has been in the process of being knitted since April, is finished!

OWLS by Kate Davies
The last couple of months have seen me knitting in every spare moment and it has been worth it.

The jumper is as fitted as it is supposed to be but not all that flatering, it makes my bust look huge! I don't care though, I knitted something big, in the round, with cables and it looks ok!!

I used New Lanark Wool, which is a bit itchy but nothing a long sleeved top underneath doesn't fix!

Back to the sewing machine now I think!

DIY Spooky Hair Clips!

Still no dresses post, maybe this weekend! For now I have been making Halloween hair clips to (try and) sell (hahaha, have sold one thing through my web site!).

If you fancy making them yourself they are really simple, Halloween ribbons sewn in to various bows then glued / sewed on to the clips. Remember to seal the edges of the ribbon so they don't fray though!

Fingers crossed I am not left with all of them for next year :)

p.s. I have not stolen the photos, they are marked for my shop, couldn't be bothered changing them for here:)
