Catching up

I have had a few posts sitting in draft form for ages so though I would just do a wee catch up post instead of attempting to do a proper post on each thing.

Exhibit 1:

A blue silk circle skirt made for going to Prague in the summer. I made this some gorgeous buttery silk that is lovely to wear, perfect for warm weather.

Exhibit 2:

A raglan sleeved to that I made using the pattern from Sew U Stretch book and swapping the jersey front with a woven cotton front. It is a wee bit short so I may add a jersey band to the bottom eventually.

Exhibit 3:

I was a pattern tester for the Megan Nielsen Mini Tania Culottes. These were a fab make, I can highly recommend the pattern. I made these slightly big in the vain hope that little E might wear them in the summer.

I also have a couple of WIP's. One is a dress I have almost finished but can't get the zip in without it going all wrong, I think it may have a more fundamental fitting issue. Maybe something to tackle int he Christmas holidays.... or maybe not.

A last minute skater dress

There has been some panic sewing going on in this house, I got a bit confused, which is easily done, and thought this dress was needed for a week tomorrow, it's not , I need it for tomorrow! Little Z is going to be 3 and is Peppa Pig daft so thought I would dilute some of the Peppa madness with a Raccoon print dress (I know her Mum will love the fabric!).

I spent yesterday afternoon whipping this skater dress up using fabric I have had for over a year and a half. It was bought to make a baby outfit for my Nephew but I soon realised that this fabric is not what my sister would choose to dress wee G in...!

The dress pattern and the fabric are from Kitschy Coo.

Little e has now decided she would like one, I think a trip to Kitschy Coo shop may be required!

Pattern: Skater Dress
Fabric: Lillestoff Raccoons (out of print which is a shame as I had promised Big E a t-shirt in it...)

In other news, my basket of doom is now 3 items smaller - progress is being made!

Frenzied sewing

The sun is out and it's the start of the school holidays, it can only mean one thing, some frenzied summer sewing for me and the kids who are seriously lacking in summer attire!  The kids have grown - how inconvenient - so the shorts that have done a few years are now hot pants, not a good look on a 8 year old boy!

I bought the shorts pattern from MADE last year and it is a very good simple short, very quick to make.

I made the biggest size for Big E so hopefully they will last a few summers, no pictures as they are in the wash already!

I then stumbled across this free shorts pattern from Oliver + S. It is brilliant as well.

The shorts are a little more complicated, in that you add the waistband, but they are lovely wee shorts. The turquoise ones are made from the legs of a pair of linen trousers of mine.

Next up was a tennis skirt for little e using this free pattern from Kitschy Coo.

She likes it - result!

Big E then started complaining that little sis had more than him so I finally sewed the shirt that I have been meaning to make for over a year!

He chose the buttons :) I have fabric for a boys t-shirt as well but that will have to wait for a while!

There has also been lots of selfish sewing that I will share soon, well, as soon as the kids allow, since I am on full time entertainment duty for the next 6 weeks!

Kids Shorts

It has been hot here, I mean 27C hot, which has made me realise my kids have 2 pairs of shorts each that fit, not enough for 2 weeks worth of shorts wearing weather (and hopefully more to come)!

This was easily recitfied though, I bought the Kids Shorts pattern from MADE (fab blog) and russled these two pairs up in an hour or so! They are a great stash buster as they take less than 1m of fabric, in fact I think I will tempt fate and make them another pair each, hopefully the sun will keep shining!

Big E refused to model them!
