Simple Baby Card

Crafty things have been sparse in this neck of the woods recently, helping plan a Beaver camp is time consuming! It is now all over (the sun shone and the kids had fun) and I can recover with some time in my craft room :)

One of my friends had a baby on Friday so today's task was a baby card. This is my 'standard' baby card with a few tweaks to make it personal. I love the Penny Black bear stamps, they are perfect for baby cards!

Now to make some invites for my Dad's 60th in June!

Simple 10th Anniversary Card

My friends celebrated their 10th Wedding Anniversary a few weeks ago and I had no idea what to put on their card as I didn't want anything too traditional. I had seen pictures of stitched hearts on cards so used that as the starting point and went from there...

Very simple but that is how I like it. I really dislike the current trend of buying lots of pre-made stuff, sticking it on a card and passing it off as your own, where is the creativity there?! I take that back, was in a really bad mood when I wrote that and Wendy made a fantastic point in the comments, that everyone has to start somewhere and I suppose using premade stuff in card making is no different to me making clothes from patterns rather than designing my own :)

Anyway, off to revise, I have a 'test' on Friday morning to tick off some more boxes to becoming a fully qualified Beaver Scout Leader..... Who knew when I volunteered to help last year I would end up as a leader, I hate camping but I better keep that quiet :)

All Change!

Do you every feel like life is happening just a wee bit faster than you can keep up with??

That is exactly what the last few months have been like here and it is still a little (lot) crazy!

I quit my very part time job a couple of weeks ago in less than ideal circumstances (lets just say someone obviously had it in for me and moaned so much I could not put up with it any more even though I had the full support of my boss). So, I have decided to throw myself into Heavenly Handmades , my card making business, to see if I can actually make a go of it, here are some of my new designs using my gorgeous new Wild Rose Studio stamps (bit fuzzy, sorry)

I always feel such a fraud when I say I am going to try and sell my cards because they are so simple compared to some you see but I figure some people must have the same taste as me in simple rather than 'busy' cards...

The website has also had a bit of a face lift, I am getting there slowly but I would love to be able to afford to get someone who actually knows what they are doing to do it for me! I have an advert going in the local community magazine in a week so I need it looking good by then!

Now to be a true Scottish person, a moan about the weather. There were record temperatures here last week, 22degC at one point, proper shorts and t-shirt weather

I raked around the loft (attic) to get the summer clothes down, had them out for a day then the weather got cooler and tomorrow the forecast is snow with a low of -9degC overnight, brrr! Global warming don't you just love it...!

Off to find my thermals for tonight:)

Scrap Busting Thank You Card!

I am a hoarder of anything card/ paper/ fabric like! I have 2 folders of scrap card

and a jar of wee bits of ribbon

that I can't bare to throw out!

So, in an effort to declutter, I decided to try and use them to make the thank you cards for little e's birthday pressies.

This is what I came up with

I made them like this:

Set up a word document custom paper size 9.5cm x 14cm

Type 'Thank You' in your chosen font, I used Gabriola.

Cut out the required number of pieces of card, 9.5cm x14cm, in a pale colour.

Print them out

Cut Coloured card to A6 size (10.5cm x 15cm)

Wrap a small piece of ribbon round the pale card (I stick it with double sided tape)

Stick pale card to other card.

Now you can leave it like this or make a wee bow to attach to the ribbon!

Cute little scrap buster thank you cards, done!

Now to write them...

Feeling inspired

I have had quite a creative few days spurred on by my desire to get rid of the silly amount of card making embellishments I have accumulated over the last 6 years! I can't throw a card I receive out before stripping it of all embellishments (and my family all know this and strip their cards for me....) so I have loads of the things.

I think it is the first time I have made cards that are totally 'me'. I thought they may look awful but I am pleased with them, I can't quite believe I have all but 2 of the cards made that I need until the end of May!
