Wooden Bead Necklace

I have had some wooden beads in my stash for ages and, after attempting and failing miserably at a fabric covered bead necklace, decided to change tactics!

I painted 5 beads purple and one turquoise with crafter's acrylic paint, gave them a skoosh of enamel spray, then strung them together with some silvery grey ribbon, knotting the ribbon in between each bead.

A simple necklace in my favourite colours - perfect!

I don't recommend wearing them as soon as the enamel has dried... they smell awful! I am the hippy who uses eco paint so there are minimal VOC's in the house and no nasty chemicals yet I gave myself a stonking headache wearing these as soon as they were dry, breathing in all the fumes!! I wore them again today and they smell fine!

Ribbon tie necklace - 3rd attempt!

This is the third time I have made this necklace! I made it for the first time last year using thread to string the beads and tying the string to the ribbon, it snapped after about 10 mins! The next time I used heavy duty thread and it lasted a few outings. This time I found this tutorial and decided to fork out the £3 or so for the supplies!

I didn't even know you got ribbon gripper thingys, what a great invention!

The beads are old, they came from my Great Aunt's house

and the flower is made with muslin offcuts with a sparkly button sewn in to the centre.

I just glued the flower to the ribbon, last time I sewed it but I opted for the quicker option this time!

Now to find an occasion that I am not dressed in jeans, t-shirt and trainers to wear it!!
